Peggy Angeles

A degree holder on Bachelor Science in Hotel & Restaurant Administration from the University of the Philippines, Diliman Quezon City, Peggy Angeles has more than 35 years of experience in the hospitality and tourism industry.  She is currently the Senior Vice President for Operations of the SM Hotels & Conventions Corp (SMHCC). One of the business units of SM Prime Holdings, Inc., SMHCC owns and manages the heritage mountain resort – Taal Vista Hotel, Pico Sands Hotel and the Pico De Loro Beach and Country Club in Nasugbu, Batangas.  It also owns the Radisson Blu in Cebu and the Park Inn Hotel in Davao and the recently opened Park Inn in Clark.

Under construction is the soon to open Conrad Manila. In addition, her responsibility covers the SMX Conventions Centers in MOA, Aura, Davao and Bacolod, plus the Trade Halls in Mega Mall and SM Cebu. 

Prior to her affiliation with SMHCC, Peggy spent 24 years of her work life with Shangri-La International Hotel Management.  She lived in Bangkok, Singapore and Hong Kong where her assignments brought her.  With her expertise in the field of Sales and Marketing, she was tasked to open several hotels of the group, starting with Edsa Shangri-La in 1990.  She spearheaded the market entry strategy of at least other 10 hotels located in Harbin, Wuhan, Beijing, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Oman, Boracay, Tokyo and Istanbul.  She was also heavily involved with the rebranding into Shangri-La hotels in Australia – one in Sydney and the other in Cairns. 

Apart from opening and rebranding hotels, what she would consider a feather on her cap, is her assignment to take over post opening, the sales and marketing operations of the Shangri-La in Paris and in Maldives.  

Her role spanned from the management of Regional Sales Offices in various countries, Revenue Management, Branding, Digital Marketing, Distribution, Event Management, Sales System automation, customer contact center management and talent acquisition and training for sales & marketing.

She also spent 10 years with the Hyatt group, having been part of the sales team, banqueting, catering and Rooms division. This is where Peggy was shaped into a well-rounded hotel operator.  She started her career with the Hyatt Terraces Baguio as a reservations agent. 

Putting her best foot forward, Peggy was promoted to sales after 10 months of being employed.  The rest is now history.

A Mabuhay Gold Hotelier of the Year Awardee in 2009, Peggy has also been included in the Most Powerful Women in Travel in 1998 and 1999, by the US magazine - Travel Agent.  An active member of hotel Sales & Marketing Association in the Philippines, she was once upon a time a private sector /Hotel representative and board member of PCVC, in 1994.
